Rob's Review - Honda's CB1000GT and CB1000F
On Monday I had my first try on the new CB1000GT and CB1000F along with some rival models for comparison.
First impressions of the GT, Wow! This is the only bike you’ll ever need. I could ride this to Le Castellet take the panniers off, do a track day at Paul Ricard, then pop down to St Tropez for a beer without it breaking a sweat! This is the future of sports/touring. Forget the GS, this is way more fun.
The list price of £11999 gets you 150bhp, panniers, heated grips, quick shifter, centre stand, knuckle guards, electronic suspension, cruise control, keyless ignition, selectable riding modes, selectable electronic suspension modes, adjustable screen, phone connectivity and much more all as standard!
We anticipate getting a demo very soon. If you are looking for the most versatile bike on the market, do yourself a favour and come along and give it a try, you won’t be disappointed. Be prepared to want one!
I own a number of classic Hondas, one of which is a 1980 CB900F, the new CB1000F borrows its styling inspiration from the aforementioned 80’s icon.
I tried the CB1000F back-to-back with a Kawasaki Z900RS, a bike I really like. However, the Honda has the edge in several key areas. The CB1000F is £900 cheaper at £10599, it has 12 more bhp, rider mode options, keyless ignition and phone connectivity. The overall ride is a bit sharper everywhere. This is now my new favourite Honda that will look great parked next to the CB900F in our showroom.
If you like retro looks, with the civility and benefits of modern equipment you need look no further.
As with the GT we’ll have a demo to try as soon as they’re available.
We'll be letting you know via social media and our website once we have the models here to test ride so keep an eye out!
